For nearly two decades, Rouge Cosmetics has been part of the beauty community in historic Salem, Massachusetts—a place where beautiful products, professional artistry, and personal service come together under one roof.Rouge was founded in 2007 by Ann Supple Massey, whose extensive background in beauty retail inspired her to create something special on the North Shore: a welcoming neighborhood beauty destination with a thoughtfully curated collection of cosmetics and a level of personal attention that made every client feel at home.In 2014, Rouge began its next chapter when Alejandra “Allie” Kough became its owner.Originally from Venezuela and with more than 25 years of experience in hair, makeup artistry, and beauty retail, Allie brought her own warmth, creativity, and vision to Rouge. Her career has included experience with respected beauty names including Estée Lauder, Clarins, Bluemercury, and La Mer, along with years of hands-on work behind the chair and with clients.Under Allie’s direction, Rouge has grown from a beloved cosmetics boutique into a complete beauty destination, expanding into professional hair services, makeup artistry, bridal hair and makeup, brows, lashes, advanced skincare and facial treatments—while preserving the personal attention that has always made Rouge special.Today, Rouge welcomes everyone from longtime local clients to brides, visitors discovering Salem, and women simply looking for a place where they can receive thoughtful, personalized beauty guidance.We don't believe beauty should feel intimidating or one-size-fits-all. Meet Alejandra “Allie” Kough
For Alejandra Kough, beauty has always been personal.
As the owner of Rouge Cosmetics in Salem, Massachusetts, Allie has spent years creating a space where women can come in, feel comfortable, be themselves, and leave feeling a little more confident than when they arrived.
Her love for beauty began with a natural fascination for color, artistry, and transformation. But over the years, her philosophy has become much simpler: beauty isn't about becoming someone different. It's about bringing forward what is already uniquely yours.
That philosophy can be felt throughout Rouge.
Whether she is creating a bride’s wedding-day look, finding the perfect hair color, shaping a brow, caring for someone’s skin, or simply helping a woman choose the right shade of lipstick, Allie takes the time to listen. She believes the best beauty experiences begin with understanding the person sitting in her chair.
As a makeup artist, master stylist, beauty professional, educator, and entrepreneur, Allie brings years of hands-on experience to her work while continuing to learn, evolve, and explore what’s next in beauty. She thoughtfully selects the products, treatments, and services offered at Rouge with the same question in mind: Would I feel good recommending this to someone I care about?
Perhaps what she loves most, though, is the relationship that happens along the way. Many Rouge clients have been with Allie for years—through weddings, celebrations, new hairstyles, changing skin, new chapters, and all the ordinary moments in between.
